Phil Moser can be summed up in two words: biblical and practical. He is a master at applying the scripture to everyday issues in such a way that people walk away with lives changed.   –Kevin O’Brian, Ocean City Baptist Church, New Jersey

Lesson 3: 12th Man Training – Prayer – Part 2 – the progression

Lesson 3 in the 12th Man Training series introduces us to how Jesus progressed in prayer in his spiritual life (Mark 1:35; Luke 6:12; Mark 14:36). It gives simple instructions for how we can grow in this area as well. This lesson also introduces you to the pocket prayer journal — a simple resource you can download here: http://biblicalstrategies.com/downloads/The-Pocket-Prayer-Journal.pdf

Lesson 4: 12th Man Training – Time in the Word- Part 1: Scripture Retrieval

Scripture retrieval is an essential resource for Christian living. To expose temptation’s deception we memorize verses in the lie/truth formula. To weaken temptation’s appeal we learn promises about the character of God and the nature of the gospel. This lesson focuses on the necessity of Scripture memory, and offers a helpful plan for how to develop the daily practice.

Lesson 2: 12th Man Training – Prayer – Part 1

Lesson 2Lesson 2 in 12th Man Training taps the resource of prayer by developing a pattern for prayer from the Lord’s prayer in Luke 11 and Matthew 6. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, he responded with a simple outline that could be expanded our truncated as time permitted. In this lesson the PRAY acrostic is developed as a memory tool with an emphasis on: praise, repentance, asking and yielding. Additional tools are provided.

5 Steps to Start 12th Man Training with your Men’s group

12th man graphic widescreenOn the gridiron, the 12th man describes a vocal fan base — their aggressive participation at game time can inspire the home team and frustrate the opposition. But in the Bible the 12th man describes the opportunity that arose when a 12th disciple was needed (Acts 1:20). The purpose of 12th man training is to help men spiritually prepare themselves so that, whether husband, father, friend or servant-leader — when opportunity calls — they are ready.

112th Man Training is character-based instruction for men using the Biblical Strategies material. Biblical help is offered in 30 twenty minute teaching segments as men develop biblical strategies for overcoming the issues with which they often struggle — anger, self-pity, sexual temptation, procrastination, anxiety, and broken relationships. A unique aspect of the training is the directed table-talk discussions. For 35 minutes following the teaching, a table leader fosters discussion around that week’s topic, provides accountability for each man’s spiritual growth, and builds community among the men at the table.
