Section 9: Eternal Values – What are they worshipping/pursuing?

Jesus spoke often of eternal values (Matt. 6:33).  Learning to deny our temporal desires and feeding our eternal desires is critical to spiritual maturity.

Key questions to ask:
Outside of school, where do you spend the most of your time? Doing what?
How often are you on social media? Texting? With whom?
What kinds of things do you write about?
What kind of music do you listen to?
What is your favorite movie? Why?
Whom would you like to trade places with? Why?
What is the one thing that if you actually had it, you’re sure you’d be happy?

Key Scriptures to consider:
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:19-21

32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

 Matthew 6:32-33
